Welcome

The human givens approach:

The human givens approach Is a set of organising ideas that provides a holistic, scientific framework for understanding the way that individuals and society work. This framework encompasses the latest scientific understandings from neurobiology and psychology, as well as ancient wisdom and original new insights.

I offer effective and practical help for people who are depressed, anxious, phobic, or suffering from stress, trauma, sleeplessness, bereavement, panic attacks, nightmares, abuse, bullying, OCD, eating disorders, obsessions, addiction, anger disorders or relationship problems, using a wide range of therapeutic methods shown to be effective by evidence based research.

Human Givens therapy is effective because it draws on findings from psychology and neurobiology about how people really function, as well as international research studies that have established which counselling techniques are most effective.

The Human Givens approach to therapy has proved to be a fast, brief and extraordinarily effective way to improve the psychological state of people with problems; bringing down their emotional arousal, reframing and detraumatising their past, re-connecting them with the resources they already have so that they can get on with life.

I will work with you from the very first session, and in as few sessions as possible, to:
Help you relax
Reduce difficulties and stress in your life
Help you set some goals that are achievable and stress reducing
Aid you to take back control of your life

I do not encourage long term therapy and I aim to help people restore a healthy life, swiftly and independently.

What are the human givens?

People whose emotional needs are met in a balanced way do not suffer mental health problems. When psychotherapists pay attention to this they are at their most effective.

What are they?
